How to Rent a The Post Vault Safe Deposit Box

Step 1: Make an Appointment to Visit Our Centre

Call us on 01204 963 935 to book an appointment at a convenient time. To book an appointment email us on info@thepostvault.co.uk or visit any of our locations.

On the confirmed date, visit The Post Vault in Bolton to set up your safe deposit box.

During your visit, you will complete a short rental agreement to open your account.

Allow approximately 45 minutes to finalize the process and ensure everything is securely set up.

Step 2: Choose Your Box Size

Explore our range of box sizes, rental terms, and pricing options to find the best fit for your needs.

If you’re unsure which size to choose, visit The Post Vault in person. Our experts will guide you through the available options, and you can view the boxes in our reception area before making a decision.

Step 3. Complete the application paperwork

Bring one photo ID and one proof of address for each account holder (up to four people).

Accepted Photo ID (Choose One):

  • Passport (UK/EEA or non-EEA with UK visa)
  • UK photocard driving licence (if not used as proof of address)

Accepted Proof of Address (Choose One):

  • Utility bill (last 3 months)
  • Bank, credit card, or mortgage statement (last 3 months, stamped if printed online)
  • Council Tax bill (last 12 months)
  • UK photocard driving licence (if not used as proof of ID)

Step 4: Enroll in our security system.

Once your safe deposit box is assigned, your details are linked to it, ensuring only you or an authorized nominee can access it.

For added security, we register your photograph and iris biometric details in our system.

Step 5: Complete Payment & Access Your Box

Make your initial payment using debit or credit card. Extended term fees are paid via Direct Debit.

You’ll receive the only two keys to your box and a demonstration on how to access it. Your valuables can be stored immediately.

Important Notes:

  • Safe deposit boxes are available by approved application only.
  • Applications must be made in person, and applicants must be 18+.
  • We do not keep copies of your keys or offer a key-holding service.
  • Rental agreements auto-renew annually unless one month’s notice is given before renewal.

Following these steps ensures maximum security and discretion for your valuables.

We do not hold the contents of your Safe Deposit Box on your behalf and have no knowledge of its contents. Storage is at your own risk, and we exclude all liability for loss or damage.

Safe Deposit Boxes are not a replacement for insurance—we strongly recommend insuring your valuables for their full value.

Before the end of each 12-month period, we will contact you regarding renewal and provide an invoice for the next term. You must either:

Pay the invoice to continue your contract, or

Provide written notice within 28 days if you wish to terminate at the end of the current period.
